New Design Department to Drive Performance & Project Delivery at ISD Solutions

Published on 7th December, 2015

Gloucester, 7 December 2015: ISD Solutions, a leader in specialised composite panel construction and cladding solutions, has established a separate design department to fully complement and improve project delivery across its full spectrum of construction projects including retail and distribution warehouses, cold store facilities, structural waterproofing, firewalls and data centres.

Headed up by design manager, Paul Chivers, who brings 15 years’ experience to the role, the new department will play a key role in the Company’s drive towards ISO 9001 and culture of continuous improvement as well as providing in-depth technical knowledge to support project management. He will ensure that drawings to support initial bids and ongoing contracts, together with material schedules are completed on time to the highest standards.

As ISD looks to continue its growth, the creation of a specialist design function is a logical step. This will allow more time to concentrate on planning and delivery and increase focus on health and safety, cost management, collaboration and issue resolution to streamline project delivery and improve customer service for clients and building owners.

BIM (Building Information Modelling) will also be a key focus for the design function and continued investment in these capabilities will ensure that ISD Solutions is well placed to deliver level 2 BIM projects in accordance with the government’s 2016 deadlines.

A number of projects are already benefiting from this BIM (Building Information Modelling) process, including a recent distribution centre for Sainsbury’s. Clash detection with other trades and a collaborative working process sharing the same digital models across different disciplines and project partners will ensure that clients benefit from a greater spectrum of knowledge, experience and ideas, with improved project outcomes.

Paul Chivers said: “Our goal is to ensure that every project gets over the finishing line exceeding client expectations and delivering a faultless solution every time. Separating the design function in this way brings more certainty and accuracy to the whole process and ensures appropriate resources can be assigned. Part of this involves our commitment to the BIM (Building Information Modelling) process and we continue to invest heavily in the latest technology and training to ensure ISD Solutions is well placed to deliver level 2 BIM projects for our clients.”

With a focus on accuracy, presentation, delivery and consistent quality, the new cold store design department will also ensure compliance with appropriate industry specifications and manufacturing guidelines including, for example, IACSC (The International Association for Cold Storage Construction) and MCMRA (Metal Cladding and Roofing Manufacturers Association).

Tony Wall, MD for ISD Solutions added: “The creation of a separate design department further enhances our professionalism and capabilities, and will ensure that we continue to meet client expectations with a dedicated point of contact for all design disciplines. With this new resourcing, we can guarantee projects are delivered successfully to the highest quality. The early involvement at design meetings and back to back the development of detailed design and build techniques will reinforce the value in choosing ISD Solutions as the contractor of choice.”
