ISD Solutions Support Children’s Cancer Charity with Weight Loss Challenge

Published on 5th February, 2015

Gloucester based staff from ISD Solutions took on a charity weight loss challenge with an embarrassing forfeit in order to raise vital funds for the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people and their families.

Gareth Ross and Jane Gwatkin who work in the finance department of ISD’s parent company the P&M Group took part in the challenge to improve their target BMI weights, with the added incentive of a forfeit of having to wear a fairy costume.

ISD Solutions chose CLIC Sargent as their charity of the year after a nomination by one of their employees who had personal experience of the good work that they do. This fundraiser has formed part of a calendar of fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

Gareth Ross said: “I am proud to say that Jane and I both exceeded our weight loss targets, as well as raising a huge amount for CLIC Sargent.”

Both Gareth and Jane chose to wear fairy costumes to work. The outfits were worn in pride, as the pair raised almost £1,500 for children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Gareth continued: “The secret to our weight loss was the competitive element. Once we’d committed to undertake the challenge we had to see it through.”

The challenge began in July, with the final weigh in on 19 December. This five-month weight loss regime resulted in both exceeding their BMI target. With colleagues eagerly following the ‘Charity Diet Weight Tracker’ online, the whole team got behind the charitable fun.

Fundraising Manager at CLIC Sargent, Hannah Worrall said: “It is wonderful to see ISD Solutions getting on board with some creative fundraising ideas. Hats off to Gareth and Jane who were great sports raising funds for a very worthy the cause – well done to you both!”
