ISD Completes Firewall Project at JLR ‘Body in White’ Facility

Published on 6th August, 2015

Gloucester, 23 July 2015: ISD Solutions, a leader in single envelope cold store construction, has completed multi-million-pound manufacturing plants – the new ‘Body-in-White’ vehicle assembly plant at Solihull in the West Midlands, for Jaguar Land Rover.

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is Britain’s largest automotive manufacturer, employing some 25,000 staff, so it has been particularly exciting for ISD Solutions to be involved in one of the company’s five manufacturing plants – the new ‘Body-in-White’ vehicle assembly plant at Solihull in the West Midlands, completed in 2014.

In July 2013 ISD Solutions’ Firewall and Data Division were awarded a £1.1 million contract by lead contractor Vinci Construction to design, supply and install over 8500m2 of internal partitions and ceilings to form acoustic and fire rated walls and ceilings in the massive “Body in White” production facility.

These firewalls are crucial to staff welfare and the production environment where a vehicle body’s sheet metal components are welded together before any moving parts are added.

Both Kingspan KS1100CS composite panels and the Eurobond Firemaster panel system were utilised in the single storey facility which is constructed on a previous JLR site covering some 600,000 sq ft.

Other works carried out by ISD Solutions included the installation of thermal insulation to the plant room soffit in the roof and to accompany the firewall installation, ISD also installed passive fire protection to seal the areas and to provide a complete solution.

We are experts in cold storage construction, firewalls, data-centres and single envelope cladding.
